How We Grade

PDF Print E-mail

Ryusui-Ryu gradings are generally held about 3 -4 months apart, a timescale which is designed to fit into the schools curriculum. This timescale is based on a student who trains twice a week (on average); students who are unable to attend twice a week will obviously take longer to progress through the grades but this is not a problem. Everyone is allowed to progress at their own rate.

All juniour gradings are taken at a club level but seniors currently have to attend specific grading sessions. When grading panels are required they are made up of senior instructors and only authorised instructors are permitted to sit on these panel.

In order to be eligible to grade a students must be a fully paid up member of the association with full insurance cover. This cover is provided as part of your membership fee.

During the grading examination the student will be asked to perform various techniques required for the level under examination. In the early stages only phyisical ability is tested but as the student progresses their knowledge also comes under scrutiny. Also as students progress they start to be judged more on attitude, demeanor and courtesy as well as their phyisical ability and knowledge.

All disputes on grade are ultimately settled by the senior instructor and founder and his decision is final
